Membership Criteria

Participation Requirements

To be a member of the NTSP, a communications company must actively participate and contribute to the Panel by:

• Attending Panel meetings regularly, either in person or via conference call.
• Presenting or sponsoring a presenter at the International Telecommunications Safety Conference (ITSC).
• Serving as a member of a subcommittee, or in some other way directly contributing to issues being addressed by the NTSP.

Membership Categories

Member Company

• A communications company whose business is providing and maintaining local exchange networks, long distance, cable TV, wireless, fiber optic, and/or cellular services, and
• Who has participated for more than one year, and has been accepted as a member of the NTSP by a two-thirds vote of the membership.

Associate Member Company

• A communications company whose business is providing and maintaining local exchange networks, long distance, cable TV, wireless, fiber optic, and/or cellular services, and
• Who has participated for less than one year, and has been accepted as an associate member of the NTSP by a two-thirds vote of the membership.

Member Company Representatives

Member and Associate Member Companies must be represented by an individual who:

• Has three or more years of environmental, safety, and health experience, and
• Is a member of a national safety organization, or possesses a CSP, CIH, CUSA or other nationally recognized environmental or safety certification.

At Large Representatives

An At Large Representative is an individual who:

• Has been approved to participate on the Panel by two-thirds of the Member Companies.
• Contributes to the NTSP by serving on a subcommittee or providing expertise on a particular subject matter.
• May be from the same company as a Member or Associate Member Company Representative.

Voting Rights

Each Member Company shall have one vote on all issues being addressed by the NTSP. The vote shall be cast by the Member Company Representative or their designated alternate. Associate Member Companies and At Large Representatives are not eligible to vote.

Maintenance of Membership

• Member Company and Member Company Representative status may change due to personal and/or business factors (job changes, mergers, etc.)
• Member Companies may change their Representative with a two-thirds approval vote from the membership.
• Member Companies who have not met the participation requirements for a period of one year may be suspended from membership by a two-thirds vote of the NTSP.
• Members may suspend their membership at any time by submitting their written request to the Chair.
